A traditional IP-based Ping tool sends a short network message to a destination host, which then replies with an equally short message, proving that it is 'alive' or 'reachable'. Our XRI Ping works quite differently behind the scenes, but fulfills the same purpose. It tells you if the XRI you entered is reachable ('resolvable') and to which endpoint it leads when used by people.
If it is not possible to ping (resolve) the XRI, an appropriate error message is displayed.
It is not necessary to prepend the optional "xri://" prefix when filling in the text field.
